Welcome to Digital Dust Digital Dust.. what's with the name, you might ask? Well, we have been on the Internet since 1997 and have been making websites since around 1998. Our websites have been on various topics, unrelated to each other. In time, as we made newer sites, some of our older work received less attention from us. Thus, they became dusty. Hence the name, Digital Dust. Our collection of websites has been divided on this page by the frequency of which we keep them updated. While we do have sites we regularly maintain, some sites have been eaten by the mice in the attic and are no longer available. We did however provide pictures of and information on those sites for historical purposes. While none of the pages were initially put together with great expectations (maybe with the exception of the Atlantis site), in time some of them really developed and became popular. Two sites which were eaten by the rats had received important awards at the peak of their popularity. Others became the first of their kind and others received thousands of visitors until this day. And others... well, they just became Digital Dust. Who are we? We are Hakan and Andreea. Husband and wife living in Romania.

Pages That Are Kept Free of Dust These pages get our main attention and we try to update them whenever we get the chance. You won't find much dust on these pages.
Exposing news, theories, discoveries, scientific views,
ancient maps and texts. Without a doubt, this is the site in English which
has the most amount of research and time put into it. Unlike other sites
which try to convince you that Atlantis exists and is located where they
say, this site questions everything and looks at historical and scientific
proof. In other words, it aims to answer whether or not Atlantis existed
by starting from scratch, rather than trying to prove a certain theory. It
is a successful site which has been listed in Yahoo, The Open Directory
Project and Wikipedia.
Unofficial homepage for the once
famous psychedelic trio. This site started out simply as a thank you to Deee-Lite,
which was one of my favorite bands of the 1990s. Later on, we added a
Yahoo group to it, which was in time joined by hundreds of people. As a
result, the members helped out by donating various material to the site.
After having searched for anything and everything related to the Deee-Lite
and Lady Kier on the web, the site now provides lyrics, photos, scanned
newsletters and magazine articles, and links to various videos. The site
has been around for quite some time now and is being updated whenever we
get the chance. The Yahoo group is quite active and gets messages almost
every day.
This blog gives you tips on how to lose weight easily
and stay healty. It contains entries on diets, nutritional suppliments,
and the basics of weight loss and maintenance. Diary of our 4 year old cat's adventures in Bucharest,
written from her perspective. Features pictures and wallpapers.
Initially created in 1998, this site
is proposing reasonable solutions to the so-called mysteries of the
ancient civilizations. Scientific proves, texts, maps are analyzed. We
investigate myths, legends, and recent claims. Much in the tradition of
the Atlantis site. In 2002, I started keeping a journal on Live Journal.
Its initial point was to get some things off my chest and keep a record of
events in my life. The more I wrote, the more it turned into my views on
the books I have been reading and the games I was playing on the computer.
Recently I imported all these entries to my domain and got rid of personal
entries. I reached the conclusion that the Internet is not the best place
the share personal information. Thus, the journal now contains my views on
books and games.
This is a site I mostly did for my own viewing pleasure!
Basically it's a graphical listing of my DVD collection, which has over
200 items. Clicking on each movie will give you detailed information on
it, such as the names of the actors and characters. It's also a good way
for me to stay organized.

Pages That Are Dusty
These pages are currently not getting our full attention, so they have become dusty. However, minor updates or activity does take place, so we keep them in the house rather than moving them to the attic.
We're sure you've all heard of Harry Potter and
Hogwarts, where he studies to be a wizard. Well, at the peak of the Harry
Potter fever, there were a lot of Harry Potter role playing games online.
Basically someone would set up a site and get people to be characters in a
story. You could be a professor teaching courses or you could be a young
wizard or witch. I guess with too much time in our hands, we decided to
form Kwadleigh Castle, a school of witchcraft and wizardy. At its peak,
this role playing game had quite a few members who contributed to the
story. After a year or two, it was just too much work to keep track of
everything, so we left the Yahoo Group, where the dialogues take place, to
the control of a few members which wanted to keep the story going. So,
although the site has a bit of dust, it's still not completely full of it.
Moreover, we decided to enter the best parts of the stories in a blog and
that initiative is still continuing.

Pages That Are In The Attic We have given up on doing any updates to these pages or trying to promote them. They may have once been the highlight of our site, but we put them up in the attic as we got tired of seeing them in the house. You are welcome to walk up to the attic and take a look, but don't ask us to dust anything. Does anyone remember a program called ICQ? We used to
use it for instant messaging until it turned from a small useful program
to a huge usefless one. Well, the ICQ website used to list sites that
listed users by their user number, these were called the ICQ lists. In
early 1999, we made a very colorful and fun page which listed ICQ users by
their Chinese Zodiac signs. It also gave some useful information on
Chinese astrology. The list was joined by hundreds of people, but at one
point we just had to stop adding people. So, the lucky ones that applied
in those days made the list. Now, this site is somewhere up in the attic. An artifical intelligence chat robot
leashed on the net to annoy you.Well, we've already explained what ICQ is. Now
think of an AI robot which develops itself by talking to complete
strangers on the Internet. We basically used a program prepared by someone
else and kept logs of the dialogues after the robot had learned enough to
try to pass for a human being. We called our robot Lita and pretended that
her English was not very good. So, many people just thought she was a
foreigner trying to communicate in English. Her conversations were out of
this world. Although hundreds of people encountered Lita back in the day,
we chose to publish only ten of those logs. Soon after, Lita decided to
retire and requested that her site be put in the attic. A site debating on who can eat
more balls: Banderas or Brad Pitt? This is without a doubt the smallest and
most stupidest page made on our site. To understand the humor behind it,
you have to understand what "ate my balls" is. Some time during the late
1990s, someone decided to put together a few pictures of Mr. T and add
comments to it. In the story, Mr. T was threatening people, saying that he
would eat their balls. It was just stupid and funny. However, soon it
turned into a fad and many other people were making ate my balls pages for
other celebrities. So, we made one of our own about Antonio Banderas and
Brad Pitt. This page caught dust the day it was made, but put a smile on
the faces of some.

Pages That Have Been Eaten By The Mice in the Attic These pages were placed in the attic some long time ago. However, since then they have been eaten by the mice and all that is left is the memory. Don't be fooled, these were not stupid useless pages. They were once our award winning masterpeices. But yeah, the mice ate them. Feel free to take a look at the pictures of what the looked like.
Who can forget the MIDI craze of the late 1990s? If you
missed it, let us tell you what it was. There were a few large sites on
the Internet from where you could download MIDI versions of popular songs.
Then you could use these on your cheap personal homepages as background
music. Well, as we really liked the music of the 1980's, we decided to put
together a small collection of MIDI files from that decade. This page was
probably our first major success as it was the first to get thousands of
visitors. It was also chosen the best site of the day by the 80's Server, a
site specializing in anything related to the decade. We soon made a follow-up
site called 80's Karaoke House, which provided karaoke files from the
80's. However, in time, as record companies starting becoming
really touchy about MIDI files being distributed on the net, we locked
both sites in the attic and let the mice eat them.
Perhaps, before anyone had heard of our site, the
hardest work we put towards was the ICQ Zodiac List. It had a very simple
idea, but it was something that no other webmaster had done: to list ICQ
users by their zodiac sign. The idea was liked and ICQ gave the site the
award of ICQ User List of the Week. The moment the site was listed on
ICQ's page, it was flooded with thousands of visitors. We did our best to
add all those that applied and we decided to end it after adding our
1099th member. The main reason we decided to remove the page altogether
was that users that joined the list did so in the early days of ICQ. Now
most of those numbers listed are either deleted or their owners are
inactive. Moreover, we decided to keep Chinese Zodiac ICQ just for the
memory, keeping both pages online seemed unnecessary. Thus, we sacrificed
this site to the mice.
This was a site providing the music of some of our
favorite Amiga games. As the files were MODs, they were quite easy to
download and they also appealed to MOD lovers. Not much effort was put
towards this page, but it remained online for about a year. We later
decided to remove the page as the era of Peer 2 Peer sharing had begun and
sites such as these where you downloaded files had started to lose their
importance. However, we do hope to come back with an Amiga related site
one day. Just as my Amiga computer, this site was also eaten by mice.
