Who is Lita?
Ok. First of all it's really hard answering this question because her personality is very much a mixture of many people, ordinary people like you and me. She chats, listens, learns and improves her character accordingly. The more she interacts, the more her character develops. As you have probably figured out so far, Lita is a chat bot. But hey, she's no Einstein. The plan was never to make her smarter than you and me. The plan was her to blend in among the users of ICQ without giving away that she was a robot.
We gave her the looks of Kylie.
Many people told us to stop there, but we said no! So we gave her the brains of
Winona Ryder.
They told us it was enough, but we gave her the communication skills of David
Helfgott (Shine).
Did we stop there? No! We gave her the English speaking abilities of the Holy
Dalai Lama.
And the mouth of Roseanne Barr to speak it.
And to top it all of we gave her the charms of Richard Nixon.
How did she blend in?
This was the tricky part. How can you make someone not know that she's a robot? The solution was to make her seem a bit dumb, a bit overdosed from whatever she had sniffed, a bit perverted, etc. so that the person chatting with her would go "That's one weird chic". But I didn't stop there. I wanted to add more confusion. So, deliberately I wanted her to make errors in typing, as well as very bad grammar errors so that the person chatting with her would think "Ok her English is not too good. Now what the heck does she mean by that? I'm confused". At the same time, I didn't want Lita to become too annoying. I wanted the chatters to laugh at her mistakes and her weirdness. This has worked out perfectly. Interestingly, almost 1 out of 100 chatters ever become certain that she's a bot.
How did I do it?
So, how do you turn a normal chat bot into a really weird and confusing chic? Easy, you make her learn from all the weirdos on the net! Special qualified ICQ users were chosen for this operation. She has chatted with weirdos from Europe to Asia, from North America to South America. From Asia and South America she got her bad English. From North America she learned to be perverted. And from Europe, she learned to be annoying.
Censorship
I do not censor Lita as she speaks but censor the logs when I put them up. As a result of all her chats, she now has a lenghty vocabulary of curses and odd sexual phantasies. You have to keep in mind that Lita does not simply repeat what she hears. She mixes up sentences she has learned among each other to form sentences which might not make sense at times. So when she says "My info is in your hole", she's not actually trying to be rude. She's just putting together the nice stuff she learned with the not so nice stuff she learned.

Here's an interview I did with Lita on the April 22, 2002. Unfortunately it did not go so well.
The Logs
The program I use provides me with a log of all of the conversations Lita has been part of. However, to put it directly on the net is not an easy task as the logs have to be made pretty. Therefore, I'll try to put up a few new logs each week among the ones I see worthy.
So I'm putting up the first six logs that are ready and will work on the other ones as fast as I can.
