Rat

The Rat is charming, humorous, honest and meticulous. Those born in these years make good and wise advisors, yet they can never decide for themselves and change direction constantly. However, Rats at times hunger for power and money, leading some to be gamblers and others to be manipulative or petty. Blessed with a sharp wit, they possess a marvelous sense of humor, which makes them stimulating and amusing company to have around. Generally extroverted, they may well be described as opportunists for they prefer to live off their wits rather than labor long and hard to earn their daily bread. Rats should have a happy childhood and a carefree youth. However, the second part of their lives may be stormy and problematical especially in money and love affairs. The third part of their lives will be comfortable, and their old age as peaceful as could be wished. These are passionate creatures whose feelings can be deeply stirred and though able to control them as a rule, when the volcano does erupt, watch out! Perhaps one of their faults is their inability to actually talk about their feelings to those they love. They enjoy all forms of physical stimulation. Rats' romantic life is very quiet, provided that they take care not to interact with the Horse or Rooster. In particular, it is catastrophic for a male Rat to marry a female Fire Horse. They should be wary of those born in the Year of the Rabbit. Rats have excellent relations with the Dragon, Monkey, Ox and Tiger.

The Ox works hard, patiently, and methodically, with original intelligence and reflective thought. These people enjoy helping others. While their balance and strength inspire confidence, Oxen can seem rigid, obstinate, and slow. They impress others as leaders, fearing neither responsibility nor risk. However, sometimes they must labor long hours to accomplish little. People born under the influence of the Ox are kind, caring souls, logical, positive, filled with common sense. Security is their main preoccupation in life. Strong-minded, stubborn, individualistic, the majority are highly intelligent individuals who don't like being told what to do. Although Ox people don't ask to be put in the limelight, they do like to be boss. Respecting others, they are always open to a dialogue. The Oxen's childhood and youth will generally be without incident. In the second part of their lives they will encounter difficulties in their marriage. During the third part of life, Oxen may suffer enormous difficulties but if they can manage to smooth them out, their old age will be peaceful. Oxen make solid, steady, reliable partners. They can be tender, devoted, sensual even -- but they are never romantic. The Rooster, Rat and Snake get on very well with Oxen. There are struggles and problems with the Monkey, and a lack of understanding with the Sheep and the Boar. Popular belief is that the Ox should never set up house with the Tiger.

Ox

Tiger

The Tiger, the living symbol of strength and power, generally inspires fear and respect. Tigers' compelling dynamism, intense activity, independence and curiosity about others make them irresistible, persons of multiple charms; Tigers attract followers and admirers. The Tiger is courageous, active and self-assured, and makes an excellent leader and protector. However liberal-minded Tigers may be, they are passionate, rash, and resist the authority of others. Although they are selfish in the little things, they are capable of great generosity. Tigers blind themselves to dangers and rush in where more cautious individuals would fear to tred. They will not allow injustice. With a wide ranging mind, they can adopt any number of careers, but material benefits matter little to them.Warm-hearted, sociable and friendly, they are characterised by their frank, honest and open approach. A Tiger in the house minimizes the Three Great Risks -- thieves, fire, and evil spirits. However, two Tigers in the house is a crowd. Tigers make ardent and virile lovers who dominate their partners. Generally flirtatious, they are especially prone to wild flings in their early years but do settle down as they get older. When committed to a happy and fulfilling relationship, Tigers make loving and caring partners, warm-hearted and generous. They don't, however, lose that romantic streak nor that exciting ability to surprise. Encounters with the Horse and the Dragon will be especially interesting. Tigers will feel a definite affinity with the Rat and Boar but should avoid the Rabbit. Above all, beware of the Ox, who is stronger than the Tiger and will keep on attacking him until he is destroyed.

Rabbits are affectionate, obliging, pleasant, well-groomed and appearance conscious, with a love of fine things. They have a tendency to be too sentimental and will strive to avoid change. They are ill at ease during arguments, preferring a quiet, peaceful life. Rabbits are generally charismatic people, often witty, intelligent speakers who enjoy nothing more than a good discussion. That's not to say they are argumentative - in fact, a Rabbit can be relied upon to preserve the peace, even letting insults pass by rather than facing further confrontation. Appearances are important to Rabbits, who will strive to own the better things in life. Their love of security makes their home an important base, filled with beautiful things. Rabbits are methodical and conscientious and make excellent communicators. Rabbits are loyal, honest employees, respected by all for their integrity. However, if the Rabbit finds himself in a position of power he demands these traits from his subordinates, and can become authoritarian. Although Rabbits enjoy the company of a significant other, they aren't the most faithful marriage partners. They are best suited to the Goat, Pig, Snake and Ox. Rabbits should avoid the Rat and Rooster as these signs are too confrontational and critical for the peace-seeking Rabbit.

Rabbit

Dragon

Force and power are the symbols of the Dragon. There is an exotic air about Dragon people, especially among the women, who fairly exude sexuality. To the Chinese, the Dragon is born in the most desirable year. On one hand shrewd, healthy and full of vitality, the Dragon also possesses a mystical side, intuitive, artistic and strangely lucky. However, Dragons can become irritable, stubborn and impetuous. The Dragon's mystical allure might make him or her difficult to get close to. Believing themselves invincible, Dragons must beware of excesses. They fit in with whatever is going on around them - but for only as long as it suits them. They are self-determined types and don't take kindly to being dominated by others. Temperamentally, Dragons are somewhat hot-headed and quick-tempered, making them ferocious and dangerous. Dragons are idealists and perfectionists; they demand a lot and they give a lot. Enthusiastic, Dragons have big mouths. Intellectually, they are clever, bright, sharp people, yet on occasion they will follow only their hunches. Fortunately for them, they are strong on intuition and invariably all works out well. They will be a success wherever they go, regardless of their chosen careers, and may devote themselves to a great cause or work (good or bad). They attract money and generally enjoy financial prosperity. Romance for the Dragon is never simple. Dragon lovers either fall in love and commit themselves to a serious relationship when they are fairly young, or tend to be loners and perhaps never marry at all. The Monkey, Snake and Rat are dream partners for the Dragon; however, it is worth remembering that the only sign that can fool the Dragon is the Monkey. The Boar and Ox cannot deal with his excesses.

Snakes possess a strong, charismatic presence and a charm which has been described as "bewitching". They're known as experts in the art of seduction. Snakes are said to be endowed with wisdom and with deep philosophical understanding. The majority of Snakes are financially successful and generally lucky with money. A Snake can be counted on to carry a project through to the end. The Snake will fight and plod for anything they believe in and allow nothing to stand in his or her way. Snakes are a bit tight when it comes to lending money, though their sympathy for others often leads them to offer help. The fatal flaw in the Snake's character is a tendency to exaggerate. Snakes are notoriously good looking and like to project the best image of themselves that they can. When it comes to the choice of a partner, these people are infinitely selective. When they find the partner of their dreams they will brook no opposition until they win the heart of the object of their desire. Having won their prize, they then become possessive and jealous, fearful that it should slip out of their hands. Unfortunately, both sexes tend to complicate their lives with extramarital affairs. If they can struggle against this trait, they will gain enormous serenity and inner harmony in their lives. If the Snake settles down, he or she can become a marvelous parent and have a large family. The Rabbit, Sheep and Dog are on good terms with Snakes, but the Rat and the Rooster annoy them. A firm alliance can be achieved with the Horse. The Snake will be happy with the Ox, who is content to be overrun by this family on condition that the Ox is always accepted as boss -- a role that the Snake willingly concedes in the home. The Boar should beware of the Snake who will impose upon him, ensnare and immobilize him, while the Snake wallows in his own faults, knowing that he can get away with it.

Snake

Horse

Horses have a pleasant, easy going disposition which guarantees popularity and a large following of friends. Blessed with good humor and geniality, they are extremely comfortable to get along with. Hard working, self-possessed and sharp, the Horse skillfully acquires power, wealth and respect. They are particularly skilled at handling money. However, the Horse's impatient pursuit of success may become selfish and predatory. They are more cunning than intelligent, and they know it. In politics, he could be a winner, for he has the facility to sway the crowd. He is very quick-witted, acts on impulse, and approaches all things enthusiastically. When it comes to intuition they have a sixth sense that is quite uncanny. Unfortunately, as the Horse is a creature of changing moods he's liable to lose interest suddenly in things he's taken up. Due to their dislike of inactivity, Horses get involved in many sorts of works outside their chosen trade. The first and second part of the Horse's life will be full of ups and downs, but the third phase of the Horse's life will be a peaceful one. When they fall in love, Horses seem to lose all logic, all sense of perspective. They love their independence and, as soon as they feel a partner is limiting their freedom, they will rebel. The idea of being married several times does not disturb them, and they adore children. Age eventually mellows the Horse. Conspirators together, the Horse can make his life with the Sheep. He also lives in harmony with the Tiger and Dog. These two, intent on the solution of their own psychological problems, will pay no attention to the romantic instability of the Horse. He also has a good relationship with the Rooster, Monkey, and Boar. Under no circumstances must the Horse marry a Rat.

Socially, domestically and politically, people belonging to the Sheep category are the least likely to make waves. They respect order and pay attention to rules and regulations that are laid down by laws and by society. Whether it is because Sheeps are such nice and pleasant people or whether it is because they are born under a lucky star, fortune seems to favor them. It is quite possible that because they are so mild, unassuming and whimsical, they would not be capable of making their fortune in life by their own efforts. Yet many seem one way or another to attract success and money. Endowed with innate intelligence and artistic talent, the Sheep will fare well in business. However, their successes are often limited to money; in family matters they may flounder. They can be a bit too undisciplined at times. They leave decision-making to others, but cannot be forced to follow a path they do not like. Sheeps are frequently religious, but will only practice it to the point where it interfers with their comfort and everyday routine. Romantic problems are often frequent in the life of the Sheep. It is the Sheep's heart which rules its head. Sheep women dream of marriage with a rich man or a liaison with some influential patron. Failing this, she will be happy living at home with wealthy parents. Sheeps would be especially happy with the Rabbit, the Boar or the Horse, yet they are capable of living with practically all the signs. However, the Dragon and the Snake consider Sheeps too passive for their likes. The Ox has no patience with the Sheep. In love or business, a union between the Sheep and the Dog is destined to fail as they are both too pessimistic.

Sheep

Monkey

The Monkey is lively, likable and witty. Highly sociable, the Monkey is talkative and, as a fascinating conversationalist, he attracts a wide circle of friends. They need continual stimulation to keep themselves interested and amused. Monkeys can also be mettlesome, opportunistic, and unscrupulous to the point of being tricky and manipulative. They possess acute psychological perspicacity. They are egotistical and selfish, tend to be lazy, concentrating on small matters while ignoring more important issues. He considers himself to be superior to all of the signs. Monkeys are highly adaptable and versatile, enthusiastic about everything and fascinated with art. They like refinement, originality and luxury. Inventive and intelligent, those born in these years can solve most problems quickly and skillfully. Monkeys shamelessly acknowledge their attraction to money. The Monkey can succeed in any profession but many will naturally gravitate towards show business. The first part of the Monkey's life will be happy but the second part will be upset and confused. Later, the Monkey will enjoy a simple, everyday life. Because of the natural curiosity and desire for new experiences, serious long-term relationships don't excite them. They are the most charming, amusing, and romantic companions. In a permanent relationship he will make a splendidly stimulating partner. The Monkey's love life may tend to be complicated, but he will assume family responsibilities with equanimity. The Monkey is likely to have a lot of children. He gets on splendidly with the Rat, Dog, Dragon and Boar.

Hardworking, resourceful, courageous and talented, Roosters are self-assured people. They possess powerful personalities and are notoriously dominant. In groups they are vivacious, amusing and popular. But Roosters can be conceited creatures, vain and boastful, with a strong egotistical need to constantly be the center of attention. Excellent at small talk, they can be the life of any party. Roosters are talkative types, outspoken, frank, open, honest - but a little too blunt at times. These people are born organizers, refined and elegant. They are tidy-minded and like to keep everything neat and shipshape. When it comes to making decisions of any kind, Roosters prefer to carefully consider all sides of a situation before coming to a conclusion. When it comes to money, Roosters are prudent and careful. The Rooster man likes to be in the company of women. He rarely goes out for a night with the boys. His Hen counterpart also likes the company of other women -- that's not to say that men bore her! The Rooster will touch the heights and depths during the three phases of his life, business-wise as well as romantically. He will go from poverty to riches, from ideal love to the most sordid of emotional entanglements. The Rooster's old age will be happy, however. Roosters see the world as either black or white; when it comes to individual people, they will immediately either love or hate them on sight. Their love life has all the elements of romantic excitement. They like the idea of dominating their partner, but this notion is more for fun and show than it is from real conviction. Roosters are highly unlikely to deceive or cheat on their partners. The Snake, Ox and Dragon understand Roosters. They would gain much from friendship with the Monkey and Boar. The Rabbit does not trust the Rooster and won't put up with his boasting.

Rooster

Dog
Dog individuals are the most humanitarian and the least materialistic. These are the givers in life, prepared to sacrifice their own dreams, ambitions and desires for the sake of others. Dogs strongly denounce injustice and wrongdoing, generously giving useful and effective advice to those around them. They accomplish goals quickly, their successes the result of hard work and intelligence. The Dog never really relaxes - his heart and mind are always jumping. He is an introvert who rarely shows his feelings, stubborn in the extreme and knows what he wants. Frequently cynical, he is feared for his acid remarks. He gives the impression of looking systematically for faults in everything he touches. This is because he is the world's biggest pessimist and expects nothing out of life. They are respected for their views and trusted by all who come to know them. Dogs find it difficult to adapt to change. They have a tendency to become wistful and nostalgic about the past. Whatever his career, it will have in him a spokesman whose ideas will be profound and often original. The three phases of the life of the Dog are all marred by uncertainty: anxious childhood, difficult youth, middle-age defeatist before the work is to be done, and an old-age full of regrets for not having done enough. Romantically, Dogs gives the impression of being cold fish because they're anxious and doubt their own feelings as they do those of others. In fact, personal relationships for the Dog are the most important things in life. The Dog can be happy with the Horse who will let him get on with his causes in exchange for a little independence. With the Tiger, life is a battle - the two of them against the rest of the world. With the Rabbit he has the biggest chance of finding peace and quiet if he wants it. The Dog also likes the Snake, but he is in frequent conflict with the Dragon. As for the Sheep, the Dog has no time for her whims or superficiality.

The Boar is known for his quiet sincerity and purity. He is so honest that he feels guilty for the slightest error. He dislikes forcing himself on others or being the center of attention. The Boar is naive, innocent, confident, and defenseless. Powerless against hypocrisy, he will often crucify himself in an attempt to justify his actions. The Boar is a splendid companion. He doesn't say much, but when he does nothing can stop him until the subject's exhausted. The Boar is intellectual, a character with a great thirst for knowledge. However, his knowledge is only superficial. Boars in general are lucky but lazy. They may at times be considered somewhat cool and reserved because they don't usually allow emotion to cloud the issue. They are cheerful and love company and social life. The Boar will always do his duty with all the strength he is capable of. However, he will sometimes ponder for so long that he destroys his own case. Materially, the Boar will always have all the necessities of life, regardless of his chosen career. Though generally tolerant people, when absolutely backed into a corner, Boars can turn vicious. The first phase of the Boar's life will be relatively calm. During the second, every conceivable conjugal problem will be visited upon him. But whatever his troubles, the Boar, discreet and shy, will never ask anybody else for help and this may do him harm. In their love life, they may often be deceived, disappointed, made a fool of ... but also often loved. Settled with the right partner, they will enjoy happy and contented lives. The Boar gets along with the Rabbit -- that's the surest way of avoiding arguments. The Tiger and Rat are also excellent partners for the Boar, but the Monkey is not honest enough for his taste. They must keep out of the clutches of the Snake. The Sheep will take advantage of him.
